Summer Holidays with Your Dog

Discover the Paznaun Valley Together

When the alpine meadows turn green, mountain streams sparkle in the sunshine and fresh mountain air fills the valley, the Paznaun Valley becomes a wonderful outdoor playground for dogs and their owners.

There are countless scents to discover, trails to explore and beautiful places to stop and admire the scenery.

One of the best things about staying at Hotel Post Ischgl is that you can start your dog walk right outside our hotel.

A lovely walking route along the Trisanna River is perfect for a morning stroll, a relaxing afternoon walk or simply spending some quality time together in the fresh mountain air.

For a change of scenery, we also recommend exploring the beautiful surroundings of Kops Reservoir (Kops-Stausee) and Silvretta Reservoir (Silvretta-Stausee). Both offer scenic opportunities for walks with your dog, surrounded by impressive mountain landscapes.

For more adventurous guests, the Paznaun Valley offers numerous hiking trails, ranging from leisurely valley walks to more challenging mountain routes.

Of course, enjoying nature also means respecting it. Please keep your dog on a lead wherever required, especially around grazing livestock, wildlife and sensitive natural areas.

Our tip: On warm summer days, plan your walks for the cooler morning hours and always bring enough drinking water for your dog.

Winter Holidays with Your Dog

Magical Walks Through the Snow

Ischgl may be famous for its skiing, but winter in the Paznaun Valley has so much more to offer.

Away from the ski slopes, a peaceful winter landscape awaits you and your four-legged friend.

Imagine the gentle crunch of snow beneath your boots, mountain peaks sparkling in the winter sunshine and your dog happily exploring the snowy surroundings.

There are wonderful opportunities for winter hiking and walking with dogs in Ischgl and the Paznaun Valley. Depending on the weather, snow conditions and your dog’s fitness, you can choose between relaxed strolls and longer winter walks on suitable trails.

And after a day of fresh mountain air and snowy adventures, there’s nothing better than returning to a warm, comfortable hotel room.

Our tip: Snow, ice and road salt can be tough on sensitive paws. We recommend cleaning your dog’s paws after winter walks and using suitable paw protection when needed.

Helpful Tips for Travelling to Ischgl with Your Dog

Good to Know

To help you and your dog enjoy a relaxed and carefree holiday, we’ve put together some useful information.

Travelling by bus and train with your dog

If you’re planning to explore the region using public transport, remember to bring both a lead and a muzzle. In Austria, dogs are generally required to wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead when travelling on public buses and trains. Please check the transport operator’s specific rules, as exceptions may apply.

Respecting nature and wildlife

Our beautiful alpine surroundings are home to wildlife and grazing animals. Please follow local lead requirements, keep a safe distance from livestock and always clean up after your dog.

What to pack for your dog

A lead, muzzle, drinking bottle, travel bowl and a few favourite treats are useful essentials. And although we’ll have a dog bed waiting in your room, you’re always welcome to bring your dog’s favourite blanket or toy for that extra feeling of home.
